Poet, Author, Songstress, and Entrepreneur 

Cloris La Rue' was born and raised in the small town of West Columbia, TX. She attended charm school as a young child, which was attributed to her knack for having impeccable "Southern charm", which eventually became the inspiration for the name of her business, Southern Charm Teacakes.

Cloris LaRue’ is the mother of a wonderful daughter and son, and also has four brilliant and amazing grandchildren! She is a two-time published author, whose book entitled Herstory, was featured as a part of the psychology program on the campuses of Prairie View A&M University, as well as the University of Houston. With countless poems and writings under her belt, she has also produced six sold-out poetic shows; as well as performed on many stages including those of both the iconic Houston’s Red Cat Jazz Cafe as well as the Houston Improv. 

Along with performing and speaking on many stages, her literary work defining beauty in 50 words or less has been featured on Jet magazine's website, and her face was featured on the website: Essence. As a Poetess, Cloris LaRue’ goes by the name of The Rue’; which means the street or pathway. The poetry that she writes & performs is intended to empower, encourage, enlighten, and inspire a nation. 

Cloris LaRue’ continues to thrive, pursue, and fulfill her lifelong dreams as she lives and adheres to the philosophy of, “As you THINK…So shall you BECOME!”
